Kerala Calling

Kerala is simply stunning all year round. There is no real best time to visit Kerala but there are some advantages to planning your trip for August. Find out why we’ve made Kerala our destination of the month for August.

Snake Boat Race

Throughout July small snake boat races are organized all over Kerala. But the one that is known throughout the world is the Nehru Trophy. It is held annually on the 2nd Saturday of August in Alleppey.

Onam

In August, Keralites celebrate the festival of Onam with great panache. The harvest festival is celebrated every year but smaller versions of Onam’s traditional “Sadya” feast are served all year round.

Weather

By August the monsoon season is mostly over. But the air is significantly fresher, lighter and less humid. In July, Thekkady (pictured above) often becomes inaccessible due to heavy rains but this is not the case in August.

Waterfalls

There are innumerable waterfalls in Kerala and most of them become astonishingly beautiful during and soon after the monsoon. Other than the known waterfalls there are plenty of unnamed, seasonal ones that appear all over especially in hillstations like Munnar.

Visit Incredible India by booking exotic Kerala holidays like Kerala wildlife tours and Alleppey houseboat cruises.
