Goan Fish Curry Recipe

The Goan cuisine and sea food preparations are famous all over the world. One of the most relished recipes from the Goan cuisine is the Goan fish curry. It is the staple diet of a Goan anywhere across the world which is eaten with rice. Here is the recipe of the dish for you to prepare and enjoy with your friends and family.
Ingredients:
- Pomfret darnes 600 grams
- Scraped or grated coconut 2/3 cup
- Coconut milk 2/3 cup
- Coriander seeds 15 gm
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
- Garlic paste 1 tsp
- Ginger paste 4 tsp
- Green chillies 4
- Cooking oil
- Lemon juice
- One medium sized onion finely chopped
- Red or Kashmiri chillies as per taste
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind deseeded 45 gms
- One medium sized tomato finely chopped
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Preparation Method:
Marinade the fish in salt and turmeric for about an hour.
Meanwhile, blend the coconut, whole chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric, tamarind pulp and the ginger garlic paste together in a blender with the coconut milk.
Now heat oil in a cooking pan.
Add the chooped onion and saute till golden brown.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes till the tomatoes are cooked and the oil starts leaving the pan.
Add the blended mixture to it and pour 1 cup of water.
Bring it to a boil.
Now add the green chillies and the fish and simmer for 7 to eight minutes.
Increase the flame, again bring to a boil and simmer for another 2 minutes.
Do not cover the pan at any stage while the curry is being cooked.
Remove the fish curry to a serving bowl and serve hot with boiled rice.
